Dalers LAX 2017
May 25, 2017
The Farmingdale Boys Lacrosse team finished their regular season with an impressive 12-4 record, earning the #3 seed in the Nassau County Class A Playoffs. They are led by Senior Captains Kevin DePalma, John Feiner, Nick Pantorno, Darrin Simons, Tyler Sullivan, and Kyle Tucker. The team defeated East Meadow on May 16th in very convincing fashion with a final score of 18-6. They started out with the best first quarter they’ve had all year, going up 8-0 to start the game. Senior Kyle Tucker led scoring with 5 goals and 3 assists, and Senior Darrin Simons and Sophomore Joe Simons both finished with 3 goals and 1 assist each.
The Dalers went into Hofstra facing a very high powered offense in the Syosset Braves, who the Dalers had not beaten since 2011. Their closest game against the Braves did come this year, in a sloppy, rainy, 7-4 loss at home. But with a new offense and adjustments to player personnel, the Dalers were confident that they would “shock Nassau Class A” with a win against these Braves. In their first regular season meeting, Syosset’s goalie had to make only six saves the entire game to secure the win, so the key to winning this one for Farmingdale would be to put the ball on net. Darrin Simons and Kyle Tucker both had two goals in the teams’ first meeting, and Brian Michael controlled the faceoffs winning the majority of his draws.
The Dalers shocked the lacrosse world by defeating heavily favored Syosset 11-10. Kevin DePalma had 3 goals and Darrin Simons had 2 goals. Kyle Tucker led scoring with 2 goals and 3 assists including the game winning goal to put the Dalers ahead with only five seconds remaining in the game. Although they lost to Massapequa in the County Championship, it was still a very successful season for the entire team, and many players have very bright futures playing collegiate lacrosse.
