FHS’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Sam Croes: FHS Valedictorian

Farmingdale High School has been an incredible place to attend high school the last four years. If you are a motivated student, athlete, musician, or find yourself passionate about anything, there is something for you and someone to support and encourage you. My favorite activity I was part of was the Marching Band and Pep Band. Not only did I love marching and playing, but for the past two years I had the privilege of being Head Section Leader of the clarinets. I loved every minute that I spent on the field marching or inside rehearsing. Each year at band camp in Pennsylvania was an incredibly special moment and I made friends and memories that I truly cherish.

My favorite class I took was AP Bio during sophomore year. It was the first AP I ever took and remains one of the most challenging things I have ever had to complete. I enjoyed the challenge every day, but I also found the material intriguing and mind-blowing. My experience in AP Bio is actually why I am choosing to major in Molecular Biology at Brown University. I knew that what we were learning is what I want to study because it was that fascinating and exciting to me. Not everyone is lucky enough to know what they want to study, but taking AP Biology helped me recognize that biology is the field I want to go into.

I am not totally sure what I want to do for a living, but I think I may want to be a researcher. I am also interested in pharmacology and the development of medical drugs.

I have had some amazing experiences in high school and made really solid friends. FHS has provided me with an enjoyable and awesome four years and I appreciate what the school and district has done for me.

Hamza Malick: FHS Salutatorian

It is an honor to be the Salutatorian of Farmingdale High School. My experience here at FHS has been nothing short of fantastic. Due to the classes and activities that I have been lucky to have been a part of, and the friendships that will last a lifetime, it has been an absolute blessing to spend the last four years here. My favorite class that I have taken is AP Chemistry with Mr. Kontakis and my most memorable experience is winning the Regional Science Bowl and being able to travel to Washington D.C. to compete in the national finals. Another memorable trip was qualifying for the MathCon Nationals and being able to spend a weekend in Chicago. I hope to continue to make more memories in the next four years as I will be attending Duke University and majoring in neuroscience as I aspire to become a neurosurgeon.
