Tiger’s Back
September 24, 2018
After a long five years, Tiger Woods finally won again. Tiger won at the Tour Championship, which is his 80th win on the PGA Tour. As easy as Tiger made the win seem, the journey back to the top definitely was not. The struggles that he went through make golf fans believe that Tiger is still the hardest worker on the PGA Tour.
The Tour Championship took place from September 20th through the 23rd. Tiger was absolutely dominant. He finished with a total score of -11, a two stroke lead from 2nd place, Billy Horschel. After undergoing back surgery four times over the course of three years and retiring from the game of golf, Tiger came back. “It’s a never-ending struggle, which is great,” says Woods. “You can always get better! You can never get there. It’s a journey with no arrival. And that’s the beauty of it — that you can always become better the next day. It’s pretty cool to think about it in that sense. Tomorrow I will be a better player than I was today.”
Even before the Tour Championship, Tiger was in contention in past events in 2018. In 2017, golf fans didn’t believe he could do it, and now in 2018 he proved the doubters wrong. “You’ve got to stay patient, stay in the moment, keep grinding, … You never know what can happen…” said Tiger. After his victory, he got emotional in his post-round interview. “I just can’t believe I pulled this off,” he said. Tiger is clearly proud of his accomplishment after such a struggle.
Tiger is back.
