Dalers Beat Hempstead
This past Saturday, October 20th, the Farmingdale Dalers picked up an important league victory over the Hempstead Tigers, improving their record to 5-2. As the Dalers headed into Hempstead on a clear Saturday fall afternoon, they knew that they needed to take care of business and keep their playoff push going strong. Sophomore Lorenzo Ramos got the Dalers on the board first with a touchdown run, and Tom Decker put in the PAT to make it 7-0 Dalers. This opened up the gates for a huge day for the Farmingdale offense. Junior quarterback Nick Lundin led the way, going 8 for 14 passing with 143 yards and 2 touchdowns. The passing game success was exactly what they needed as it also opened up the running game. Wilson, Ciaccio, and Ramos all did their part in the backfield running behind the solid offensive line. This squad of running backs did so much for the Dalers like they’ve done all year, as they also caught passes from Lundin. A well balanced offensive attack of running and passing helped the Dalers keep the Tigers on their toes, guessing all game. Whatever the Dalers threw at them, it seemed to work. The Dalers just had one of those days where everything just went their way. The defense also had a monster game, holding Hempstead to just six points all game. Senior Brandon Ammirati recovered a fumble and ran it back 37 yards for a touchdown, the best defensive play of the day. Farmingdale looked like a well oiled machine in this matchup, and they look to take this momentum into their Friday night matchup with the Port Washington Vikings at Don Snyder Stadium, home of the Dalers. This may just be the start of a magical run for the Dalers as they look forward to the playoffs and hopefully get back to another County Championship.
