The Student News Site of Farmingdale High School

This one goes out to all the prom queens…

The prom stress has already begun. Prom is still five months away but the constant, tedious planning of every little detail has commenced, from planning dates and groups, to ideas for after prom, to of course, most importantly, dresses.

A simple dress is one of the most important things in the life of a high school student, critical that it is the perfect one and no one else will get the same. Recently, many have started shopping and even saying “yes to the dress” or possibly leaving the store in tears like Savanna. Keep in mind all the small factors in shopping for a dress; the smallest details could be a game changer in your decision. Going into it, it is good to have an idea of what styles or colors you like, but it’s important to keep an open mind because you may end up falling in love with a dress you never pictured yourself in. Don’t feel pressured into buying a dress right away… there is plenty of time. Always bring at least one trusted person with you, don’t get stuck on one dress, style or color, and most importantly keep a budget in mind because sometimes alterations can cost more than the actual dress. With the dress also comes shoes, a clutch, jewelry, hair, makeup, and the prom ticket itself, so there are many other expenses that add up for the whole experience.

But for right now, buckle up; the road to prom will be a bumpy ride.
