Patriots Win 6th Super Bowl

The Lombardi Trophy is considered to be the most coveted trophies in all of sports. Every year the hype leading up to “The Big Game” is unlike the hype for any other game, whether it’s players sitting down and answering simple questions from the media, or major question marks in the two weeks leading up to the game. It seems like this year’s game had it all. The Rams and the Patriots, LA against Boston, new age trying to outlast old age for the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl LIII kicked off with all of America watching. To start off, the Patriots were putting a drive together, but just as it looked like they were guaranteed points, Tom Brady on his first pass in Super Bowl 53 was intercepted by Cory Littleton. The Rams would go three and out very quickly, resulting in the first of their nine punts in the Super Bowl. As the Pats got the ball back, they looked ready to score the first points of the game. Patriots legend Stephen Gostkowski has not been known for playing well in the Super Bowl, as in the 2 previous appearances he has missed two PATS and one field goal. This game, to the surprise of many, would be no different as he would hook the kick wide left and the game remained evened up at 0-0. The Rams and Pats would trade points on three straight drives. As the first quarter came down to a conclusion, the score was still tied up at zero.

On the Pats first drive of the second quarter, they would kick the first points of the game and the only points of the first half. Going into halftime many people were disappointed in the game, thinking that it would be a high scoring game between two high-powered offenses, but it was the complete opposite for both squads as they both struggled to move the ball down the field. The halftime show would feature Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi. The halftime show is a spectacle in itself as most of the performers are highly praised artists in their primes. This year was no different as the three artists would rock the stage as the teams were preparing to come out of the half ready to turn the game around.

As both teams started coming out of the locker rooms, the fans were hoping for a more exciting half than the first half. The Rams returned the kick and were forced to punt the ball as the Pats stopped the Rams yet again on third down. Finally the Rams put together a 10 play drive for 42 yards and converted on three downs to complete the drive with a field goal. The game was all knotted up at three heading into the fourth quarter. The beginning of the fourth was still a defensive battle, until “The G.O.A.T.”(Tom Brady) decided to turn on the switch. He led them to a huge drive that led to seven points. Sony Michel was the star of the drive as he ran the ball in from the 2 yard line. The Rams and Goff got the ball back down by a score of 7, hoping to pull of a Super Bowl victory. Goff started off the drive slinging the ball. He looked  great as the Rams were driving. The Rams got passed mid field and closer to the thirty yard line. Goff decided to take a deep shot down field to Brandin Cooks and it was intercepted by Pats Cornerback Stephon Gilmore. This was the game. The Pats kicked a field goal and the final score of the game was 13-3, as Tom Brady and the Pats won their 6th super bowl.

The clock hit zero, the confetti started falling, and hundreds of players, coaches, staff and reporters stormed the field to celebrate the win. The Patriots, Brady, and Belichick all won their 6th Super Bowl. Not only are they now considered the greatest football dynasty, but they are now being compared to the likes of the great Bulls teams (NBA) of the 90s. Tom Brady now has the most Super Bowls out of any player in football history. The New England Patriots are the 2019 Super Bowl Champions.
