FHS Has R.E.A.L. Harmony

The R.E.A. L. Harmony club is a new club at FHS. The goal of the R.E.A.L. (Respect, Education, Awareness, Love) Harmony is to promote ethnic and multicultural awareness and diversity within Farmingdale High School and the larger Farmingdale community.

On April 17, 2019, the club hosted the first annual Multicultural Showcase in the Commons. A portion of the Commons was cordoned off to act as a stage. There were two acts per lunch period, each featuring a different culture via a song, dance, or fashion display. Acts included modern pop songs from India and Italy sung by FHS students, a fashion display by Muslim students (aided by Mrs. Nil Kelly,) a traditional African dance by an outside group “5678,” an Afro-Caribbean fusion dance, a hip-hop dance, a Latino fusion dance, and a performance by our Steppin’ Dalers. Portions of the show were interactive with audience members participating in some dances. The show was a huge success and was well-received by students, faculty, staff, and administration. The REAL Harmony Club meets on Thursdays in room 120. All are welcome.
