On March 10, 1981 in Douala,Cameroon Samuel Eto’o Fils was born. Samuel Eto’o went on to become one of the best strikers in the world. Every superstar career starts on a team, and he started his soccer career in Spain. He signed with Real Madrid. Unfortunately for Samuel Eto’o he was not given a shot at Real Madrid and after loan spells at Espanyol and CD Leganes, he transferred to RCD Mallorca.

RCD Mallorca

RCD Mallorca signed Samuel Eto’o for 4.5 million Euros on January 1st, 2000. In 1999-2000, he made his first appearance for the club. In his first campaign, he scored 6 goals in 919 minutes. He had an okay season for the club even though he was new to the RCD Mallorca. The following year with RCD Mallorca was his best season with the club, with 14 goal contributions in 28 games. Over the next two seasons, Samuel Eto’o appeared in over 60 games, scored 20 goals, and 2 assists for RCD Mallorca. The 2003-2004 season was Samuel Eto’o breakout season for RCD Mallorca. He scored 17 goals and 1 assist in 2,854 league minutes. That season got Samuel Eto’o a transfer to FC Barcelona.

FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona signed Samuel Eto’o for 27 million Euros. Samuel Eto ́o was on fire and he continued his run while playing for Barcelona. He scored 24 goals in his first campaign with Barcelona and in his second year with the team, he scored and assisted 31 goals. Over the next two seasons, he only made 35 starts and scored 27 goals and assisted 11 goals.  In his final season with Barcelona, he had his best campaign yet. He was featured in 34 games and scored 30 goals. During his time at Barcelona Samuel Eto’o scored 107 goals and assisted 20 goals.

Inter Milan 

Inter Milan signed Samuel for 20 million Euros. Samuel Eto’o had a hard time adjusting to the style of play in the Serie A. He only scored 12 goals in the first season, but in the second season he found his form, scoring 21 goals and assisted 9 goals. He only spent two seasons in Serie A before he was sent to Russian-side Anzhi. 

Anzhi 

Anzhi signed Eto’o for 27 million Euros. Samuel appeared in 51 games and he scored 25 goals. His  form was not that good but he still found a way to get a transfer to Chelsea and to Premier League.

Chelsea 

Chelsea signed Samuel Eto ́o on a free transfer. He found some form in the 2013-2014 season. His 9 goals in 16 games was good but he could not help Chelsea to win the Premier League or the Champions League.  

 

Samuel Eto’o also played for Everton, Sampdoria, Antalyaspor, Konyaspor, and he finished his career with Qatar SC. Towards the tail end of his career he had a couple of quick pit stops with teams all over Europe. Samuel Eto’o was a great striker and could score goals at will. Samuel Eto’o will always be one of the best strikers to play the game and will be one of the best Africans to ever play soccer.
