Atlanta Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and be sidelined for an extended period of time. Due to knee pain caused by wear and tear, Hunter has already missed four games. On Monday in Atlanta, he will undergo a lateral meniscus arthroscopic debridement operation. Dr. Kyle Hammond, the Hawks’ team orthopedist, will perform the surgery.Around two weeks after the surgery, the team said it would include an update on Hunter’s recovery plan. In the 2019 draft, Hunter, the No. 4 overall pick, is the Hawks’ third-leading scorer at 17.2 points per game.In the first six weeks of the season, Atlanta suffered a rash of injuries, including the prolonged absence of top free-agent signee Bogdan Bogdanovic. The guard missed almost a month with a broken right knee, although the team reports that he is making progress towards getting back to the court.
