Autism Awareness Month

Autism Awareness Month

April was Autism Awareness month.  For the month of April, Dalers showed their support and acceptance of all people with Autism.  Last year, the journey began with the creation of the “Dalers We All Fit Together” shirt.  With our first fundraiser and the sale of this one type of shirt, our district raised over $600 to donate to Nassau Suffolk Autism Society of America (NSASA).  This year, with the help of the Class of 2025 Student Council and Downstream Outfitters,  the online storewas expanded to once again raise money for this worthwhile cause with proceeds from all of the purchases donated to NSASA.

NSASA is a non-profit parent-run organization serving over 4,000 families on Long Island.  Their mission is to support individuals with autism in our local community.  NSASA is able to provide free educational, social, and recreational opportunities to families touched by Autism.  NSASA also provides grants to local school programs that serve children with Autism such as technology, classroom materials, and community outings for autism programs.  NSASA provides lifelong access and opportunities for all individuals within the autism spectrum, their families, to be fully participating and included members of their community.  All funds go directly to support various programs for Long Island families. Hundreds of families have attended and enjoyed many sponsored events.

This year, our district raised $873.77!
