Dalers Reach the Semifinals for the First Time Since 2019
3…2…1… the whistle blows. Wednesday, October 26th, the Dalers face Syosset in the first round of playoffs. The Dalers haven’t made the playoffs since 2019. Coach Weber says, “This game is ours for the taking. We dominated the first time and it may have not been the result we wanted, but this time we will show them what we are about.”
The Dalers start the game against Syosset with the kickoff. The game starts off evenly, then 20 minutes in Syosset scores, the Syosset fans roaring in the crowd. But the Dalers keep their heads up, controlling the game two minutes later. The Dalers tie the game with Andy Espinal scoring, putting the ball in the bottom left corner of the goal. The first half ends.
Syosset starts the second half with the kickoff. The Dalers start controlling the game, then the Dalers score, with Jalen Gordon kicking the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal, which puts the Dalers up 2-1. Fans are ecstatic.
Syosset restarts the game with a kickoff. Then the Dalers start controlling the game once again. Ten minutes later Jalen Gordan scores in the top right corner of the goal after beating the defender one-on-one, making it a 3-1 game. That goal destroys Syosset’s hopes of tying up the game. 5…4…3…2…1… the whistle blows for full time, the Daler’s are ecstatic, the fans are roaring. With that win it leads the Dalers to the semi finals of the AA conference against Oceanside.
The Dalers take on Oceanside at Mitchell Field on Sunday, October 30th at 4:30 pm. Players are warming up for this intense game, nerves are setting in. Oceanside starts the game with the kickoff, and the game is even for the first ten minutes. Then Oceanside gets a chance and scores. It’s 1-0 with 28 minutes left to go. Both teams got chances but none went in, and the first half ends. The second half is hard-fought by both teams for 30 minutes, then Oceanside scores again with nine minutes to go. 5…4…3…2…1, the final whistle blows and Oceanside defeats Farmingdale 2-0.
The Dalers went 8-3-3 and finished 5th in the conference, reaching the semifinals, something that hasn’t been done since 2019. They had a good season, fought as hard as they could, and worked as hard as they could. It was a great season despite it ending in a loss.
