My+Top+5+Christmas+Movies

Elena Ledee, Staff Writer

A Paper Lion staff member lists some of her favorite holiday movies. Please be advised that the following opinions are not necessarily those of the other staff members, advisors, or editors. As a matter of fact, Mr. Osborn completely disagrees with this list. Maybe he’ll write his own.

#1 : How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The best Christmas movie to exist is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It is about a grouchy creature who tries to cancel Christmas. He steals Christmas gifts and decorations from the homes of a town called Whoville. This movie really shows character development because in the end of the movie the Grinch realizes Christmas isn’t all bad. He gains a heart and returns all the gifts to the townspeople.

#2 : The Polar Express

A close second to the Grinch is The Polar Express, the story of a young boy who finds a mysterious train outside of his window on Christmas eve. The conductor invites him aboard for an adventure to the North Pole. On the train he makes friends and learns to be brave. The movie teaches a lesson of friendship and trust which makes it an amazing movie.

#3 : Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the Snowman is a classic christmas movie for kids that shows the relationship between a snowman that comes to life and a little girl. They try to escape a greedy magician who wants to steal Frosty the Snowman’s hat. Frosty goes on many exciting adventures throughout the town with the little girl and her friends.

#4 : Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a big fan-favorite for many people. Although the movie is adorable, it is not in my top 3. Rudolph wants to be one of the reindeers flying Santa’s sleigh, but because he looks different from the others, everyone doubts and makes fun of Rudolph. He then runs away and on his journey and makes friends who are also misfits like him. He learns it is okay to be different and that you should never hide who you are. In the end everyone sees how special Rudolph is and he gets to lead Santa’s sleigh.

#5 : A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas is a movie you have to watch every year. It is about a little boy named Charlie who notices the overwhelming and stressful feeling of Christmas. He does not understand the meaning of Christmas and while trying to figure it out, he is asked by his friend Lucy to direct the school Christmas Pageant. He gets the opinions from his friends and while under the stress he finds the true meaning of Christmas.
