Spectacular Start for Boys Baseball

The Dalers Baseball team has remained undefeated in its first nine games.

With the baseball season starting off, the Dalers have had an outstanding start to the season. The team has started off undefeated with nine wins with the contributions of many players. Coached by Mr. Michael Marchitto and Mr. Frank Tassielli, this team has taken the early lead within their division. The team has taken on competitors such as East Meadow, Freeport, Port Washington, and Syosset.

The season opener in East Meadow resulted in a 14-4 win. With the help of Angel Cartagena, Jack Molloy, and Anthony Licci, they were able to pull off the first win. Angel Cartegena had two hits and five RBIs to lead Farmingdale to start off the season. Jack Molloy allowed one hit, struck out five and walked no one in 3 ⅓  innings of relief to earn his first varsity win, while Anthony Licci went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Farmingdale.

The team also played a three game set that resulted in a sweep against Syosset. During the second game of the set, Jordan Welch struck out five in the five-inning win. The Dalers scored 10 runs on eight hits in the fourth. Justin Acevedo, the St. John’s commit, went 2-for-2 in the fourth with a double and two-run home run. This series was a confidence booster for the team as many of the players performed with excellence.

The Dalers went from one sweep to another. As the team played Freeport, Justin Acevedo, Jordan Welch, and Carmine Scardina showed up in the first game. Justin Acevedo, Jordan Welch, and Dean Pasolini all hit home runs in a 12-run second inning to lead Farmingdale to their seventh win. Pasolini was 3-for-3 with five RBIs and Carmine Scardina got the win in five innings, striking out six with one walk and one hit. Farmingdale mercied out Freeport in two of the three games played.

With this amazing start to the season, the team hopes to see a championship brought back to Farmingdale. After the team lost to Massapequa in the playoffs last year, the team wants to rebound and show off the talent they have together as a team.
